About
In 2011, Mrs. Joi Harris founded the Lava Foundation in Wisconsin before later relocating its operations to Illinois in 2017. The foundation's name, "Lava," reflects its core values: Living, Achieving, Valuing, and Appreciating one another. This acronym was thoughtfully developed to promote mutual appreciation, particularly during Mrs. Harris's tenure as a daycare owner. The primary goal of the foundation is to bring about positive change in the lives of children, families, and seniors facing significant challenges, including lack of proper clothing, footwear, outerwear, educational support, and other essential needs. Through collaborative efforts with her supporters, Mrs. Harris provided surplus shoes, outerwear, and essential items to families in need. These initiatives led Mrs. Harris to foster connections with families, youth, and seniors. Mrs. Harris remains committed to continuing her assistance to local families and seniors while aiming to expand the foundation's support globally.

We believe all people can embrace who they are, define their future, and can change the world.
